Statutes of the Association Belonging  (DazugehŲren)

1.     Name, legal status and place

The association Belonging is an association according to Art. 60ff SCC. It is politically and denominationally neutral. It is located in Zurich

2.     Purpose

 BelongingĒ provides a medium for the process of development of an intercultural community in Switzerland, and encourages the knowledge and the exchange of different cultures. Belonging sets up projects and supports initiatives that contribute to that process of development.

3.     Funds

The association plans to reach the goal to offer a medium by the following means:

  • Membership fees;

  • Donations, benefactorís contributions, gifts, legacies;

  • Sponsoring;

  • Interest from the associationís funds;

  • Gains from events;

  • Contributions and subsidies from public and private institutions;

  • Further earnings.

4.   Membership

4.1.     Types

The membership is open to all individuals and corporations.

4.2.     Acceptance / Affiliation

Membership requires an application and is subject to acceptance by the board.

4.3.     Discharge

Membership can be cancelled once a year and must be submitted to the board in writing by the end of October.

4.4.     Exclusion

Members that contravene the goals and interests of the association can be excluded by the board without justification.

5.     Finances

The membership fee is determined at the general meeting. The yearly minimum is Fr. 50.- , but higher amounts are welcome. The association is also financed through donations and lump contributions, both in kind or services. The association is only liable up to the value of its own assets. Members are not personally liable.

6.     Organs

The organs of  Belonging are:

  • General meeting;

  • Board of directors;

  • Advisory board;

  • Audit commission.

7.     General meeting

A general meeting takes place at least once a year. It approves the boardís annual report and the financial year-end, elects the board and the audit commission, and can make decisions related to the activity of the association. All topics to be treated should be listed on the invitation. Exceptional general meetings, when needed, are called by the board. To approve a resolution, the general meeting requires the simple majority of the votes of the attendant members. The change of the statutes requires a two thirds majority of the votes of the attendant members.

8.     Board of directors

The board of directors has a maximum of 4 members elected for 2 years at the general meeting. Reelection is allowed. It constitutes itself; it chooses a president from within and controls the signing authority. It runs the associationís daily business and represents it.

9.     Advisory board

The advisory board is the associationís consulting organ. It consists of a minimum of 4 members that have already made important contributions in areas relevant to the association. They can - but they do not have to - be members of the association. They are voted for 2 years; reelection is allowed.

10.   Audit commission

The audit members are voted at the general meeting. Their term of office is 2 years. They verify the accounting and present an auditís report at the general meeting.

11.   Dissolution

The dissolution of the association can be decided with a majority of two thirds of the votes of the attendant members at the general meeting. In case of dissolution the residual funds go to the organization FIMM Schweiz or to another nonprofit institution involved in the areas of integration, migration or intercultural communication in Switzerland.

12.   Ratification

The existing statutes were approved at the founding meeting on May 15, 2007 and are currently effective.
